“Were you there when they laid Him in the tomb?” The men’s quartet sang this sobering reflection on the crucifixion and burial of the Lord Jesus at our Good Friday service, April 10. In fact, all the passages read and songs sang that evening pointed our gaze to the Lamb of God suffering in our place on the cross. However, at sunrise on Sunday morning, about 230 of us gathered on the ballfield to celebrate that morning 2000 years ago when the disciples discovered that “He is not dead, but He is risen.” After a time of singing and testimonies, we enjoyed a hearty breakfast and fellowship in the gym followed by Sunday school and our morning worship service. In our worship service, the choir joyfully and triumphantly proclaimed that, after evil men did all they could to destroy our Lord, “Then Came Sunday” when Christ conquered death once for all. Pastor Allen’s message encouraged us with the story of Christ’s appearing to Mary in the garden (John 20), and urged unbelievers to make the Lord "my Lord." Easter Sunday was packed with joy—the same joy the disciples knew when they first discovered that Christ is risen indeed!
Photos from this event will be available again soon. Thanks.
