threlfall family 2010

Jonathan Threlfall had the privilege of being born into a missionary family serving in Seoul, South Korea.  In fact, his parents are still faithfully serving the Lord in Korea.  Their dedication to serving the Lord, and seeing people brought to a saving knowledge of Christ logically carried over into the rearing of their children.  This teaching and training in the home brought Pastor Threlfall, at the age of 4, to the realization that he was a sinner and in need of a Savior.  After seeing his mom praying with his older brother and sister, and asking them what they were doing, his mom took the opportunity to explain the Gospel to Jonathan, and he put his trust in Christ to save him from his sins.

Being on the mission field meant homeschooling for the Threlfall family, so with the exception of two years, all of Jonathan’s elementary, junior high and high school years were spent in homeschool.  He graduated from high school in 2002, and went on to Bob Jones University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities in 2006, and a Master of Arts in Bible in 2008.  While working on his masters’ degree, he served as a residence counselor in one of the dormitories at BJU for two years. Jonathan is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity degree.

Jonathan met his wife Christa MacAvoy, who also grew up in a pastor’s home, while they were both working at The Wilds Christian Camp and Conference Center in Brevard, NC.  She graduated from Bob Jones University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education.  Jonathan & Christa were married June 6, 2008. On November 11, 2009, the Lord blessed them with a beautiful baby girl, Anna Grace.

Jonathan sensed the Lord’s call on his life to preach from a very young age, and this call was confirmed at a Christian camp in 1997.  After finishing his training for this call of God on his life, the Lord brought Pastor Threlfall to Bible Baptist Church in June 2008 to become the youth pastor.  He is excited about the opportunity to continue the great youth ministry of BBC and see each of the teens become God-loving, Word-filled, ministry-minded, disciple-makers.
