Damian was raised in a Roman Catholic farm community in Andale, Kansas. He attended St. Mary’s Colgan High School in Pittsburg, Kansas where he was actively involved in debate and sports. In 1986 he graduated from Benedictine College (Atchison, Kansas) with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology (minor in Education). He spent the next five years teaching science and Bible courses at Aquinas High School and then St. Thomas Aquinas in Overland Park.
Damian was not saved until later in life. The Lord graciously brought several people into Damian’s life who faithfully shared the gospel with him. However, it was the conversion and subsequent change of lifestyle of a fellow coworker that was the main catalyst to Damian’s salvation. Damian soon began attending a Bible study, and as his hunger and thirst for God’s Word grew, so did his conviction of personal sin. The death of a close friend finally stirred Damian to accept Jesus as his personal Savior on August 1, 1991. That same year Damian moved back to Atchison, Kansas to become a teacher, coach, and Residence Director at Maur Hill Prep School. It was at the local bank that Damian met his future wife, Priscilla, and they were married on June 11, 1994. Afterwards, Damian became the Admissions Director for the prep school, allowing him to travel internationally for three years.
During that time, Damian was discipled by a chiropractor, Allyn Smith. He was soon baptized and joined Carol Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor George Lovely. God used the Flood of ’93 to cause the two to meet, and under Pastor Lovely’s leadership Damian continued to be discipled and to grow in the grace and knowledge of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He also began serving as a deacon. In 1995 Heart of America Theological Seminary opened, and Damian was accepted into its first class. The next two years found Damian driving from Atchison, Kansas to Independence, MO twice a week in order to complete his Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies (1997).
After graduating, Damian was able to move closer to the Kansas City area. In 1996, Damian accepted a teaching position at Lee’s Summit High School, and he moved his family to Blue Springs. Two years later Damian became the Administrator of Tri-City Christian School. Damian has completed both his Master of Arts in Christian Education (1999) and his Master of Divinity (2000) at Heart of America, and he is currently completing a Doctorate in Education at Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC).
Damian and Priscilla have six beautiful children: Abigail, Andrew, Anna, Allison, Amy, and Alyssa. Damian’s many interests include barbecuing, reading, running, fishing, and basketball. He also enjoys studying lighthouses and stained glass.
Damian has two overarching goals. First, he is burdened to be a great husband to his wife, Cilla, and a godly daddy to the children the Lord has given him. Secondly, he desires to see a nationwide revival of youth beginning at Bible Baptist Christian School.
